The best YouTube channels for designers
YouTube is the largest online video hub in the world. Search whatever video you need on YouTube, and you’ll get a variety of results. So, it’s no surprise that hundreds of designers are using the platform to share their expertise with everyone. Not only are they sharing their knowledge, in a way, they’re also creating a network that can be beneficial in the long run.
Design tutorials on YouTube are the best because, by nature, people are visual beings. We can easily understand a step or grasp an instruction if we see how it’s done, rather than trying to read and imagine it afterward.
The design tutorials on YouTube are vast and wide in range. Any topic or subject is covered by freelance and professional designers alike. The level of expertise also varies – some videos are intended for newbies while others are exclusively for professionals.
Design channels on YouTube aren’t just for tutorials, either. Creators and designers also post videos sharing advice and recommendations about the design world. Some provide guidelines and rules on how to deal with clients. Other videos are focused on what tools and applications are best when tackling a specific project. There are also videos on how to effectively market a finished design project.
YouTube is a platform for both beginners and professionals. It’s a hub for new designers to create a space where they can present their own work, share what they’ve learned, and document their design triumphs and booboos. It’s likewise a platform where pros can share their skills to everyone, give their two cents about design trends, and create a space to encourage and help others. All these YouTube videos offer nuggets of tips, tricks, and advice on how to become a better designer.
Creating a YouTube design Channel
If you want to build a network, share your knowledge, and connect with others, creating your own YouTube channel is not a bad idea at all. If you already have a design blog, a video hub is a natural progression. Otherwise, a YouTube channel is a great starting point to open your career and skills to all.
Having said that, it’s important to note that having a YouTube channel requires hard work. If you really want a space where people will follow you and appreciate your work, you need to sweat it out. This means planning your videos ahead of time. A regular schedule of uploads is necessary to establish uniformity and reliability. You also need to create cohesive and comprehensive content where viewers can learn something from you.

I’m a designer…from Brazil, and I’m thinking to create a channel for designers
This post really really really inspired me!
Man, I can’t thank you enough!
Yeah I use to watch Phlearn and Roberto Blake a lot when I was finishing out my master’s degree. You should add The Futur (formally known as The Skool) to the mix. They talk more about the Business of Design and actually running a creative service business. Lately the team has been talking about Self Branding and gaining clients.
This has been VERY VALUABLE for me as a freelance apparel designer.
If you could check out my channel, then that would be awesome. I’m a new tuber and haven’t really hit my peak yet but I’m usually talking about Apparel and Animation design. Mainly building apparel and using animation to advertise it.
I’m going to second the suggestion for The Futur. Invaluable advice for anyone working in the creative field.
