Here at Flywheel, we’re proud to take our value of being productive community members to heart every chance we get. Since we were founded, we’ve encouraged employees to give back to the city we call home (Omaha, NE!), and in June 2018, we established an official Fly Community Committee to help guide these efforts in an official capacity.
Since then, the committee has organized quarterly events to enable employees to learn about and engage with our community. We’ve made sandwiches for the Open Door Mission, cleaned up trash with Keep Omaha Beautiful, and organized blood drives with the American Red Cross. We’ve also organized full-day service excursions for our intern classes, gift card drives, and a variety of volunteer opportunities, all with and for inCOMMON Community Development.
inCOMMON Community Development’s mission is to unite and strengthen vulnerable neighborhoods. Through a variety of community-based initiatives, their goal is for residents to rebuild their neighborhoods together, as well as setting a new course away from poverty and toward sustainable futures for themselves and their families.
So, when co-founder and CEO, Dusty Davidson, challenged Flywheel (and the Fly Community) to partner with an organization that creates a deeper connection and a lasting, meaningful impact in our city, the decision was simple. Thanks to company involvement and engagement with the organization, Flywheel and its Fly Community Committee are excited to partner with inCOMMON Community Development in an official capacity in 2019!
