As an agency, why would we use the Slack Integration for Organizations?

The Slack Integration for Organizations provides real-time updates about the things that matter most on your Flywheel sites automatically, allowing you to focus on building rather than issuing updates. From site-specific warnings to alerts about new features, we’ll send you a nifty little notification about the status of your Organization’s sites.

Can I use the Slack Integration for Organizations if I’m not a member of an Organization on Flywheel?

Not at this time, but lucky for you, you can create an organization on Flywheel for FREE and immediately start collaborating on Flywheel sites! Just follow this guide to get started.

How do you recommend we use the Slack Integration for Organizations?

Be sure to choose a Slack team that the members of your organization commonly use (or start up a new Slack team just for your Organization). Also, we recommend creating a separate channel to keep Flywheel-specific notifications in – you could name it #fly-sites or #hosting-status, for example!

I am a member of someone else’s organization. Can I still add the Slack Integration for Organizations even if I am not the owner?

You bet! You can follow the same step-by-step instructions to connect the integration.

Can I connect the integration to more than one Slack channel?

Not at the moment. We allow one channel to be integrated per Organization.

What types of notifications will I receive when opting into the Slack Integration for Organizations?

You’ll receive notifications about the most important aspects of your sites on Flywheel. Here are a few examples, to give you an idea:  

• A backup is restored
• Recurring billing fails
• Staging environment is reset
• Staging is pushed to production
• New Flywheel Features & Fixes are released
• A plugin update is available
• Development Mode has been left on for too long
• WP_DEBUG has been left on for too long
• Storage was exceeded for a given site
• CDN bandwidth was exceeded for a given site

Can I edit the type of notifications I receive? Can I disable some notifications or add others?

Not at this time; the above list is the only available list of notifications at this moment. (You may be able to configure Slackbot to do some extra things on your own, though!)
