Flywheel installs a number of invisible “must-use” plugins on each site hosted at Flywheel. These plugins do various things to help protect your site and optimize it to work correctly with Flywheel servers. Must-use plugins are always enabled, and cannot be removed. For more information about must-use plugins, see the official WordPress documentation.
Currently we install the following plugins:
Flywheel | The Flywheel plugin installs the other mu-plugins, and does various Flywheel things like installing the admin help menu, and disabling various WordPress features incompatible with Flywheel |
Limit Login Attempts | Limit Login Attempts blocks an Internet address from making further attempts after a specified limit on retries is reached, making a brute-force attack difficult or impossible. For more information see this Flywheel help doc. |
Disable Core Updates | Completely disables the core update checking system in WordPress. The plugin prevents WordPress from checking for updates, and prevents any notifications from being displayed in the admin area. For more information on core updates with Flywheel see this help doc. |
Nginx Compatibility | Configures WordPress to be compatible with the Flywheel webserver – Nginx. |
