Recreate a deleted site

Sometimes life gets busy, and we might accidentally let a site’s payment lapse, resulting in deletion (oops!). Not to worry though, if a site has been automatically deleted from our servers within the last 30 days, there’s an easy way to recover it.

1. Only the owner of the deleted site’s subscription or a member of the Organization that owns the subscription can recover the site.

   Note

   Collaborators on automatically deleted sites won’t have the option to recover a deleted site. If you’re a collaborator on a site and wish to recover a deleted site, reach out to our support team for next steps.
2. If you’re the listed owner of the deleted site, you’ll receive an email from Flywheel with the subject line `[Your site name] on Flywheel – Your site has been deleted’. It will look something like this:
3. Click the “Recreate your site” button, this will prompt you with three options; Add site to existing plan, I’d like to get a new plan, or Create demo site & pay later.

   Note

   For more information on available plans, check out our pricing page here.
   If you plan to transfer the site to someone else, or only need access to the deleted site’s content for a brief amount of time, then select “Create demo site & pay later”.
4. The site will then begin to restore to the subscription option you selected using a temporary Flywheel domain.

   Note

   This usually takes about 10-15 minutes depending on the size of the site. Larger sites will take longer.
   You will receive an email like the one below when the site is ready for the next step.
5. Follow the steps in this help doc to repoint DNS and attach the original domain to the site. This will take your site live again!
