How to manage your payment methods

Whether you need to update, switch, add, or delete a payment method, this article’s got you covered!

Table of Contents:

1. How to add a new payment method
2. How to switch to an existing payment method
3. How to update an existing payment method
4. How to delete a payment method

How to add a new payment method

  1. Navigate to the billing page from the user dropdown menu, found in the top corner.
  2. If the subscription you want to update is owned by an organization, use the context switcher in the corner to toggle between your personal account and the organization.
  3. Under the Billing heading, navigate to the Payment Methods area to view the current methods on file.
  4. Click + Add Payment Method.
  5. Fill out the form. At the end of the form, you will be able to apply this new payment method to existing subscriptions OR just add the card to your account. If you choose to apply to existing subscriptions, you can select them via the dropdown menu.
  6. Click the Add Card button to complete the process.

    Note

The new payment method will not be used until the next billing cycle. If your account is currently past due, your new payment method will be used in the next billing attempt.

How to switch to an existing payment method

  1. Navigate to the billing page from the user dropdown menu, found in the top corner.
  2. If the subscription you want to update is owned by an organization, use the context switcher in the corner to toggle between your personal account and the organization.
  3. Click Details for the appropriate subscription.
  4. Hover over the gear in the top corner and select Change Payment Method from the dropdown menu.
  5. Select the Switch payment method on subscriptions option.
  6. Select the payment method you would like to enable for the subscription, then click the Switch Payment Method button. You’re all set!

    Note

If you have any past-due balance for your site—in the event we were unable to charge your previous payment method, for example—switching to a new payment method will cause the new payment method to be immediately charged the amount required to bring payments up-to-date. We’ll only charge the amount originally owed, though; we don’t charge late fees on stock subscriptions.

How to update an existing payment method

  5. Select the Update card on file option.
  6. Update the payment information details and click the Update Card button.

How to delete a payment method

  4. Hover over the 3-dot menu for the payment method that you want to remove and select Delete.
  5. A banner will appear at the top of the screen that reads “Payment method has been removed from your account.” You’re all set!

    Note

If you try to delete a payment method that’s currently applied to any of your sites, you’ll receive a warning and be prompted to replace that payment method instead. You’ll be able to delete the payment method once it’s no longer applied to any of your sites.
