Flywheel will turn off site email for any site that has reached the site email limit, has been flagged for malware, or has been flagged as potentially fraudulent.
If malware has been detected on a site, an email notification will be sent to the site owner. Once the malware is cleaned up and your site is secure, Flywheel will re-enable your site email.
Here are some ways to prevent malware:
Flywheel imposes daily email limits to ensure that sites aren’t sending out massive spam campaigns. The limit is high enough to support site functions such as password resets and form submissions. In order to prevent abuse of this limit we do not publish the amount. Flywheel will notify the site owner via email when the limit is exceeded. For more information on site email limits and how to adjust them check out this help doc.
The reasons a site might be tagged with potentially fraudulent activity are intentionally vague and kept under the hood. If we were to publish an article on how our fraud detection works, it would give fraudsters the secrets they need to get past it! If your site mail has been disabled due to potentially fraudulent activity and you believe this is a mistake, please get in touch with support.
