School may be out for summer, but Camp Flywheel (our super fly internship program) is officially in session! We’ve welcomed four new interns to the team, plus a brand new, full-time Flywheeler. Let’s get to know these new troop members!

Austin Hillman, Intern

Can you tell us about yourself? I’m a Sophomore in the Raikes School of Computer Science and Management at UNL. I am currently majoring in Finance and Marketing with minors in Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, and Sales. Outside of school, I can usually be found binge-watching a series on Netflix, reading a woodworking book, or hanging out with my fraternity brothers.

What are your hobbies? In my free time, I enjoy woodworking and auto restoration and maintenance. My current personal projects include a cigar humidor and restoring my ’63 Chevy C10.

What is your favorite vacation destination? My favorite vacation destination would have to be Paris. I was fortunate enough to go between my senior year of high school and my freshman year of college. I still dream about the fresh macarons.

What is your favorite thing on the internet?Wonderful Everyday” by Chance The Rapper and The Social Experiment. They remixed the theme song to Arthur.

If you were a vegetable what would you be and why? Okra. Most yankees haven’t heard of okra. It’s a mild vegetable popular in the South. (I’m from Oklahoma.) It’s distinct and flavorful. Much like myself, honestly.

Brandon Bakke, Happiness Engineer

Can you tell us about yourself? I’m from Omaha and proudly live in the Dundee/Benson area. I’m an active local musician and in the past, have worked as a professional mechanic. I watch almost exclusively goofy TV and cartoons because I figure real life is serious enough!

What are your hobbies? Actively performing with four bands takes up a lot of time! I wouldn’t have it any other way, though. A lot of the time I have at home is spent in the garage working on old cars, motorcycles, and bicycles. I’m also a big fan of road trips and camping trips, ideally combined!

What is your favorite vacation destination? I hope to someday ride a motorcycle from my home here in Omaha to the southern tip of South America, Tierra Del Fuego!

What is your favorite thing on the internet? It’s impossible to pick just one thing for a long period of time, but anything that makes me laugh! Including this.

If you were a vegetable what would you be and why? I’d be a cherry pepper, because life should be sweet and spicy!

Britt Pollock, Intern

Can you tell us about yourself? I’m from Lincoln, NE, but go to school at Creighton University. I’m a Senior studying Marketing and Business Intelligence & Analytics. I am obsessed with purple ? and otters and Game of Thrones and the Yankees. I love to travel and learn new things.

What are your hobbies? Painting, reading, writing, watching cute otter videos, Pinterest-ing, crafts, and spending time with my friends and family.

What is your favorite vacation destination? Rome, Italy ?

What is your favorite thing on the internet? This super cute video of some otters clearly in love.

If you were a vegetable what would you be and why? If I were a vegetable I would be corn because my jokes are corny, and I’m from Lincoln, so…corn, right?

Liz Ernst, Intern

Can you tell us about yourself? Hi, I’m Liz! Born and raised in Lincoln and now going to school in Omaha, I’ve always called Nebraska home. I’m a senior at Creighton University majoring in Philosophy and Business. I’m an ENFJ who loves to learn more about anything and everything! I also have an irrational fear of trampolines, but we don’t need to talk about that.

What are your hobbies? In my free time, I like to explore new restaurants in Omaha, read about the Gallup StrengthsFinder, and generally get over-involved with various organizations on campus. I’m always up for challenging someone in CatchPhrase or a game of cards. Next on the list is learning to cook this Summer!

What is your favorite vacation destination? Rome, Italy. This March, I went on a trip to Europe with six friends! We averaged four hours of sleep a night, 17 miles of walking during the day, and gelato with every other meal.

What is your favorite thing on the internet? Nice One Dad, because I apparently only tell mom jokes.

If you were a vegetable what would you be and why? A cucumber because I was obsessed with Larry from VeggieTales as a kid. Try not to get their songs stuck in your head.

Robbie Morrissey, Intern

Can you tell us about yourself? Yo! My name is Robbie Morrissey, and I am a current senior at the University of Nebraska at Omaha majoring in IT Innovation and double minoring in Computer Science and MIS. (GO MAVS!!!) I was born and raised right here in Omaha, and I love it here! I really enjoy hanging out with friends, traveling to places I have never been before, and learning about new technology such as virtual reality development, and how self-driving cars work!

What are your hobbies? I LOVE making video games in my spare time. Besides that, I like to stay active in anything from playing ping-pong to lifting weights, and I am always looking for some new “thrills” to take part in: crazy rollercoasters, skydiving, the Nevis Swing in New Zealand; if its a challenge, I am there!

What is your favorite vacation destination? My favorite vacation destination has to be Melbourne, Australia. It is such a beautiful and diverse city that you can always find something new to do each day, and the people there are always so nice and love to live life to the fullest!

What is your favorite thing on the internet? My favorite thing on the internet is YouTube because at first, you could be watching a how-to video on something and then literally a minute later find yourself watching a totally random video, like why you should never dip your iPhone in melted crayons, hahaha!

If you were a vegetable what would you be and why? Ha! That’s an easy one. I would obviously be a beet. Why you ask? Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica. It’s that simple ?

We are so excited to welcome this adventurous group to the Flywheel family, and cannot wait to see what they’ll accomplish!
